Profile
Credit unions are Not-For-profit financial cooperatives
By their nature, credit unions are not open to the general public. Members are united by a common bond of association and democratically operate the credit union under state or federal regulations.
JACom Credit Union is governed by five member-elected volunteers serving on the Board of Directors and three member-elected volunteers serving on the Supervisory Committee. The Board of Directors attends regularly scheduled meetings to discuss specific credit union issues, goals, and progress. The Supervisor Committee retains auditors to ensure that the financial integrity of the credit union is maintained.
JACom Credit Union is a state-chartered credit union that is monitored and regulated by the Department of Financial Protection & Innovation (DFPI) and the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
Since 1951
JACom Credit Union was chartered as L.A. Southwest Japanese Credit Union in 1951 to help the Japanese community residing in southwest Los Angeles purchase homes. Today’s JACOM Credit Union is a full-service $60+ million financial institution serving nearly 9,000 members/owners throughout most of Southern California and parts beyond.
So long as you remain a member in good standing, your membership is for a lifetime.
Daruma
The Daruma doll was modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen tradition of Buddhism. For the Japanese, the Daruma is a symbol of perseverance and luck. It is also often a talisman. One eye is filled in when a goal is set. The other eye is filled in when the goal is achieved.
JACom Credit Union’s goal is to help you with your financial needs. We hope to become not only your primary financial institution but also the same for your family and friends. Only when this goal is accomplished will we be able to fill in the other eye.
